Berlin’s hip neighbourhood of Schöneberg is the perfect location for a chilled city break. Set on the ground floor of a grand old house on a tree lined boulevard, this beautiful home with its high ceilings and large windows is elegance personified. The guest room is at the rear of the house with access to the large private garden. Bathed in natural light with crisp white walls and wooden floors emphasising the bright airy feel. This family run b&b offers a relaxed and romantic stay including a breakfast prepared from fresh organic ingredients bought locally. The host, Gemma Hannah, also runs a business from her home studio making an exquisite range of 100% all natural bath and body products. Guests can also enrol in one of her workshops to learn the art of holistic skincare and mix their own personalised blends.
Schöneberg was once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. Today, it is a quiet residential area although it retains a thriving nightlife and is also a major hub of the city’s gay scene. Guests can easily walk from the house to the open air plazas which give way to eclectic outdoor markets, rolling park spaces and bars and clubs of Tempelhof-Schöneberg. There are ample opportunities to part with some Euros whether in the high-end department stores such as KaDeWe or the various smaller independent shops. “Ryoko” on Friedelstraße, is well worth a walk to. The house has the added benefit of being only 10mins from Tempelhof Station.
