I was introduced to Homi’s work through a collector friend’s shop in Brixton, London. I instantly fell in love with his vibrant paper collages. Hormazd Narielwalla, ‘Homi’ to his friends, was born in India and is a London-based artist. Just as his style of dress is a beautiful pageant of gentleman’s eccentricity in a full blown riot of colour, so to his work; using essentially found materials; Savile Row patterns, which he layers with coloured paper to create abstract representations. His works propose a new interpretation of tailoring patterns as interesting abstracted drawings of the human form which have an inherent aesthetic quality used innovatively to develop contemporary art pieces.
