Houses of Parliament, London, Geyser, Iceland. London Eye

Reflecting on my past three and a half months in London, it has been an unforgettable experience that I will remember forever! I have been given the opportunity to travel the world, study in a foreign country and work for a local small business, Distance Travelled. The exposure I have had to London and a new environment is invaluable and I would not trade it for anything.

Upon arriving in London back in August, I was filled with anxiety and nervousness about what was to come in the next few months. Would I be homesick? Would I like the people I live with? Will I only eat Fish & Chips? (Not that that would have been a bad thing). These thoughts were foolish, but what I thought to be reasonable at the time. Today, looking back none of these things are proven true. I was never homesick, I love my flat-mates, and I only have had fish & chips… well countless times. Nonetheless, my time here has been amazing.

I developed tube skills quickly and I learned to fit in with the culture. Accordingly, it took me just a short week to fall in love with the city of London and all it has to offer. I have my favourite areas, my favourite restaurants, and my favourite place to grab a coffee. Shoreditch, Covent Garden and Notting Hill are some of my beloved spots! I loved finding new places and setting out on destination: food.

My Adventures

Outside of London, I travelled to many places and went on many adventures with my friends from University. We went to Paris, Munich (for Oktoberfest), Florence, Amsterdam, Prague, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Iceland and Switzerland. All of these trips have been amazing experiences.

The most adventurous trip I went on was to Reykjavik, Iceland. We did the Golden Circle Tour – where we visited the Geysers, the Gulfoss Waterfall, and Pingvellir National Park. The following day, we walked around downtown Reykjavik, climbed to the top of Hallgrímskirkja and set off on another Grayline Adventure. This time, we headed to the Blue Lagoon where an ATV adventure company picked us up for a trip through the snowy terrains. At sunset, we wheeled through mountains until dusk. This experience is unforgettable. Following the freezing journey, we returned to the Blue Lagoon for a Spa Treatment in the warm lagoon. This was a trip of a lifetime!
